Sesame Noodles

This is perfect as a side dish, quick lunch, meatless meal or anytime.



1 package thin noodles
1 - 2 T. low sodium soy sauce
1/4 tsp each: salt, pepper, granulated garlic 
1 - 2 tsp. each:  sesame oil, sesame seeds
1/2 - 1 tsp. lime juice
Pinch red pepper flakes




Cook rice noodles according to package.


Remove noodles from heat, drain noodles in colander, place in a clean bowl. 

Combine: soy sauce, salt, pepper, sesame oil, lime juice, pepper flakes, garlic in small bowl.  

Stir with fork to mix well.  

Pour over noodles, toss to coat

Top noodles with sesame seeds, toss to mix. 

Serves 4.

Simply Fish

Sometimes simple meals are the best.

This is perfect for a simple dinner or anytime.

I've used flounder, but you could use the fish that you like.


1 lb. fish fillets

2 - 3 T. oil

1/4 tsp. each: salt, pepper, granulated garlic

1/2 - 1 tsp. lemon juice


Remove fish from the refrigerator, set aside.

Preheat skillet to medium high heat, lower to medium. 

Add oil to skillet. 

Place fish in pan.

Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic, on fish.

Squeeze some lemon juice on fish. 

Cook on one side for a 3 - 5 min. Keep an eye on it so it  doesn't overcook. 

Flip fish over repeat process on other side for a few minutes, more.

Serves 4.

Everything's Coming Up Bagel Seasoning

You don't need a bagel to enjoy this.

I'll put this on anything consumable. You find black sesame seeds in your grocery store or online.

You can adjust amounts if desired.


1 - 3 T. each: sesame seeds, black sesame seeds 

1 - 2 tsp. each: poppy seeds, dried minced onion, dried minced garlic

1/8 - 1/4 tsp. each: salt, pepper

1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes


In a clean spice jar combine ingredients. 

Place lid on jar,  shake for a few seconds to mix. 

Serves 4 - 6.

Goodness From The Garden Sauce

This is perfect for summer or anytime.


1 pkg. pasta

1/2 c. each: chopped onion, chopped tomato, chopped pepper

1 - 2 cloves crushed & chopped garlic. 

2 - 3 T. olive oil

1/4 tsp. each: salt, pepper, dried parsley, dried basil

Pinch red pepper flakes


Cook pasta according to directions.

Peel, rinse, chop onions.

Rinse, chop tomatoes.

Peel, rinse, crush chop garlic. 

Rinse, seed, chop pepper. 

Preheat skillet to medium heat, add oil. 

Add tomatoes, onions, garlic, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, parsley, basil, peppers, sauté for a few minutes.

When pasta's done, turn off stove, drain pasta in a clean colander. 

To serve: 

Put pasta on a plate, spoon sauce over pasta.


Serves 4.

Bless You Boys Botanas

Happy 325th birthday Detroit, happy 125th anniversary Tigers.

 What's better than watching the Tigers on a perfect Detroit afternoon.

This is perfect for watching thr Tigers or anytime.


1 bag each: blue, white corn tortilla chips

1 c. each: chopped onion, chopped orange bell pepper

1 lb. lean ground beef

2 T. oil

1/4 tsp. each: salt, pepper 1 - 2 c. shredded Colby/Jack cheese

1 can diced tomatoes
1/3 c. sliced pitted olives
1 tsp. fresh chopped cilantro or parsley

1 jalapeño chopped

1/2 c. each: sour cream, guacamole

1 c. jarred salsa (optional)
Non stick cooking spray


Preheat oven to 350’ F.

Spray baking sheet with non stick cooking spray.

 Spread tortilla chips on baking sheet, set aside. 

Peel, seed, rinse, chop vegetables.

Peel, rinse, chop onions. 

Preheat skillet to medium high heat, lower heat medium.

Add oil, meat, onions, salt, pepper, tomatoes to skillet. 

Cook meat for 8 - 10 minutes. 

Top chips with meat and your favorite fixings, place in oven for a few minutes or until cheese melts.

Keep an eye on this, so they don’t burn.

Remove chips from oven, top chips with guacamole, sour cream, cilantro, jalapeño, salsa.

Serves 4 - 8.

Fish Meunière

Happy Bastille Day all!

This is perfect for supper or anytime.


1 lb. fish fillets

1/4 - 1/2 c. flour

1/4 tsp.  each: salt, pepper, parsley

1/4 c. each: shallots, butter

2 - 3 T. olive oil


Peel, rinse, chop, shallots, set aside.

In a clean dish combine, flour, salt, pepper. Stir with a clean fork to mix. 

Add fish to flour and dredge fish lightly on both sides.

Preheat a skillet to medium high heat, lower heat to medium heat, add oil.

Add fish to pan and cook on 1 side for a few minutes.

Flip fish over and cook on other side for a few minutes more or until done. 

When fish's finished cooking, place on a clean plate.

Lower heat, add butter, shallots, parsley. 

Cook butter for a few minutes, stirring with a rubber spatula. 

Turn off stove and spoon sauce over fish. 

Serves 4.

Firecracker Shrimp Wraps

Happy 4th of July all.

This is perfect on the grill or anytime.


1 lb. deveined shrimp
1/3 c. each: chopped onion, bell pepper, carrot, snow peas
8 - 12 lettuce leaves (Boston or Romaine)
2 T.  each: low sodium soy sauce divided, lime juice 
2 tsp. each: sesame seeds, sesame oil, chopped fresh basil
2 cloves fresh garlic chopped
1/8 - 1/4 tsp each: salt, pepper
Pinch each: turmeric, red pepper flakes

Rinse and chop basil. 

Peel, and chop garlic. 

Place shrimp into a bowl. 

Add half of soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, half of basil, salt pepper, turmeric and pepper flakes. 

Squeeze some lime juice into bowl.

Toss to coat, cover bowl with plastic wrap. 

Place bowl in refrigerator for a few minutes to marinate. 

Peel, rinse and chop onion.

Rinse, cut ends of carrot. 

Break carrot in half. Cut 1/2 of carrot lengthwise and chop. 

Rinse, seed, chop bell pepper.

Cut ends from snow peas, chop.

Combine vegetables in bowl and add rest of soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, salt, pepper, garlic. 

Squeeze lime juice into bowl.

Toss to coat. 

Cover bowl in plastic wrap, place in refrigerator to marinate.

When ready to serve, rinse and pat lettuce leaves dry.

To serve: remove bowls from refrigerator and remove plastic wrap. 

Heat grill to medium heat. 

Lower heat,  place shrimp on grill to cook for a couple of min. or until shrimp turns pink. 

Turn shrimp over, cook on other side for a couple of min. more.

If using pre cooked shrimp, place shrimp on grill and grill for a couple min. 

Spoon shrimp and vegetables onto a lettuce leaf. 

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and rest of basil if desired. 

Fold lettuce so that the filling doesn't fall out.

Dip wrap in your favorite asian dipping sauce and enjoy.

Serves 4.

Welcome World Porcorn

This is perfect for watching the World Cup, movie night or anytime.


1 bag microwave popcorn

1/4 tsp. each: maple syrup, tajin

1/4 - 1/3 c. butter


Microwave popcorn according to package instructions.

When popcorn’s popped, carefully remove it from microwave and pour into a bowl.

In a microwave safe bowl, place butter. Microwave on high for 10 - 20 sec. 

Very carefully, remove bowl from microwave.

Add maple syrup, tajin to bowl, stir with a spoon. 

Very carefully pour butter over popcorn.

Serves 2 - 4.

Grilled Quesadillas

 It's grilling season this is perfect for on the grill or anytime.

8 -  flour tortillas 

8 - 10 oz shredded cheese
6- oz each: chopped bell peppers, chopped onions
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1 tsp mild chopped chilies (optional)
1/8 - 1/4 c. 
oil (olive or canola)



Heat grill or grill pan to medium high heat.

Rinse seed, chop peppers.

Peel, rinse, chop onions. 

Brush both sides of tortillas with oil.

Lay 1 flour tortilla on a clean plate

Sprinkle some of the cheese, onions, peppers, red pepper flakes, and chile pepper on tortilla. 

Place another tortilla on top. 

Place quesadilla on grill pan or grill and grill on one side for 2 to 3 minutes, or until golden brown.

Flip over to cook on other side for 2 to 3 minutes more. 

Remove quesadilla from pan and place on a clean serving place. 

Repeat cooking process with remaining 
tortillas and fillings.

To serve, cut quesadilla into 4 - 6 slices with clean scissors.

Serves 4 - 5 (one quesadilla).

Kitchen Jar Rocky Road

 Happy National Rocky Road Day all!

What’s a better way to celebrate than with an ice cream classic. 

This recipe contains nuts, so please be careful around those with nuts allergies, you can onit nuts if needed.

I also used regular sugar, but you can use dietetic sugar if desired.


2 - 3 c. heavy cream

Pinch of salt

1/8 - 1/3 c. sugar

1 - 2 tsp. vanilla

1 - 2 T. cocoa powder

1/4 - 1/2 c. each: mini marshmallows, chopped nuts, chocolate chips


In 4 clean jars, combine ingredients.

Screw lid on jars, shake jar for 5 - 6 min. place jar in freezer to chill for a few hrs. 

Serves 4.

Spring Burgers

 Happy National Burger Day all.

This is perfect on the grill or anytime.

1 lb lean ground turkey
1/4 tsp each: salt, pepper (adjust to taste)
1/2 - 1 tsp. granulated garlic (adjust to taste)
1 - 2 T. oil (if needed)

In a bowl combine meat, salt, garlic.  

Mix ingredients together with clean hands. 

Form beef into 4 patties. 

Heat grill pan over medium high heat. 

Reduce heat to medium, add oil needed. 

Add burgers and cook on 1 side for 6 - 8 min or until done. 

Flip burgers over and repeat cooking process until done. 

Serves 4.

Orange Butter

 2 sticks unsalted butter

1 orange zested

1/8 tsp. salt (optional)


Remove butter from refrigerator.  

Remove butter from wrapper and place in a clean bowl. 

Cut butter into chunks and let it soften to room temperature 1 - 2 hr.

Rinse and zest orange with a microplane zester into the bowl with butter. 

Mash butter with a clean fork to mix well.

With clean hands place butter on wax paper. 

You can also use parchment paper as well. 

Roll butter in wrap to form a log.

 Secure the ends of butter log and place in refrigerator to set for a few hrs.

To serve: 

Remove butter from refrigerator, unwrap butter from wrap, put on a butter dish and slice desired amount. 

Serves 16 (1 T).

Mexican Rice

 Happy Cinco de Mayo all!

This is perfect for celebrating the holiday, as a side dish, vegetarian meal or anytime.

I used boil in a bag rice, but you can use instant or regular rice if desired.

I used cherry tomatoes but you can use a chopped Roma tomato instead.

I used poblano pepper but you can use a cubanelle or a jalapeno pepper instead. 


1/2 c. each: chopped onion, chopped tomato

1 clove crushed & chopped garlic. 

2 - 3 T. olive oil

1/8 - 1/4 c. diced pepper

1/4 tsp. each: salt, pepper

Pinch each: red pepper flakes, dried parsley

1 - 2 bags of boil in a bag rice.

2 c. chicken stock


Peel, rinse, chop onions.

Rinse, chop tomatoes.

Peel, rinse, crush chop garlic. 

Rinse, seed, chop pepper. 

Preheat skillet to medium heat, add oil. 

Add tomatoes, onions, garlic, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, peppers, sauté for a few minutes. 

Snip bag of rice with scissors and pour into skillet.

Stir rice with a wooden spoon and sauté rice for a few minutes to toast.

Lower heat to medium low.

Open can of chicken broth, add broth to rice 1/2 c. at a time.

Add parsley and stir rice.  

Turn off heat when rice's finished cooking.

Serves 4.

Masters Mint Ice Cream

Masters Weekend's here.

What’s a better way to watch the Masters than enjoying ice cream

2 - 3 c. heavy cream

1/2 tsp - 1 tsp. salt

1/8 - 1/3 c. sugar

1 tsp. each: vanilla extract, peppermint extract 

Green food coloring 


In 4 clean jars combine most of ingredients. 

Add some of the peppermint extract to each of the jars. 

You can adjust the amount used. 

Add a couple of drops of green food coloring in each of the jars. 

Screw lid on jars and shake jar for 4 - 5 min.

Place jar in freezer to chill for a few hrs. 

Serves 4.
